Best Ways to Enjoy Your Time in Napa Valley

Nov 21, 2023 By Sean William

Of course, if you are driving through California for a longer period, you should make a detour to the Napa Valley wine country. . Bring a water bottle with you, and keep yourself well-hydrated throughout the day by drinking lots of water. Here are some suggestions to help you make the most of your weekend in Napa.

1. Spend The Night In A Vineyard

It's common knowledge that the Napa and Calistoga valleys are home to dozens of world-class wineries, and the odds are good that you'll get to tour quite a number of them during your time there. However, if you want the complete experience, staying at a hotel set on a vineyard is what you should do. There is nothing quite like taking a stroll through the vineyards bordering blooming wildflowers early in the morning, then walking back to your hotel in time for breakfast. We stayed at The Meritage Resort, and it exceeded all of our expectations in every way!

2. Don't Stay Too Far Away From Napa

Because the valley is home to such breathtaking scenery, there is a strong temptation to escape to a more isolated area to bask in the serenity of the setting.

3. Make Plans To Visit Several Wineries

Napa Valley is home to hundreds of wineries; thus, if you are going to be in the region for the weekend, you will need to make smart decisions about where to go. To assist you in the process of planning your itinerary, ask yourself the following questions. Will you be driving yourself in your vehicle, using the wine train, hiring a driver, or attending the event? Are you looking for an exciting new experience? How about a bike trip to Napa Valley? Do you have a preference for red wine, white wine, or sparkling wine? Your responses to these questions will assist you in generating a more manageable list of wineries you may be interested in seeing.

4. Don't Try To Do Too Much

There are so many vineyards on each side of the route that it might be tempting to visit as many of them as possible. That would be an awful thing to do! You should schedule a comprehensive tour at one of the vineyards, ideally in the morning, and then spend the rest of the day doing nothing but sampling wine. Spend some time enjoying each winery, pack a picnic with you, and go for a walk around the garden and the vineyards... The last thing you want to do is rush through without stopping to take in or appreciate anything.

5. Don't Forget To Eat Breakfast

It should go without saying, but coming to a wine tasting while you are hungry is not the best idea. Don't forget to get breakfast before leaving your accommodation. That morning at The Meritage restaurant Siena, we indulged in some handmade granola and fruit, which were delicious.

6. Make Dinner Reservations

It's common knowledge that Napa is a dream destination for foodies. There is a lot of activity in the eating scene, but it is also quite hectic. It is best not to make reservations until the very last minute since this will make it much more difficult to locate a restaurant on the spur of the moment. We had supper at Torc, located in the heart of downtown Napa, which was incredible. The dishes were simple yet had remarkable originality. Even a month later, I couldn't get enough of it, and it was the highlight of our trip to Napa for the weekend.

7. Stop At Gott's Roadside For Some Food

Honestly, this was, without a doubt, the highlight of our weekend in Napa for me. Gott's Roadside, highlighted on the Food Network show Diners & Dives, lives up to and beyond all expectations. When I saw the menu, I was so hungry that there was no way that we were going to leave without ordering a burger, even if the line was incredibly lengthy. Get a blue cheese burger. Transformative in nature.

8. Sip Water

This is another thing that should go without saying, but if you want to have a great weekend in Napa, you shouldn't become too shitfaced. And it's difficult to remember to drink water when you're continuously being served wine in front of you because it distracts you. The last thing you want to do is rush through without stopping to take in or appreciate anything. Bring a water bottle with you, and keep yourself well-hydrated throughout the day by drinking lots of water.
